EMIL SCHMECKENBECHER Cuckoo Clock
Over the years, craftsmen in the Black Forest have developed their skills and started producing increasingly elaborate and sophisticated clocks with elaborate sculptures and multiple moving parts. This painted cottage clock is characteristic of the types of clocks that resulted from the construction of a sophisticated clock produced by centuries of home-made manufacturing in Germany.
Just like the antique cottage clocks, this authentic German import presents amusing images of the traditional village life of the Black Forest, reproduced in brightly painted sculptures. The clock is animated by German dancers who come in and out of the chalet every hour, accompanied by German music, A carved yellow cuckoo recalls the time and a water mill wheel rotates below.
The scenario as a whole does not materialize with electronics, but with the traditional German Regula movement, powered by three pinecone weights that need to be rolled up daily. A hand-carved wooden clock keeps time. A switch keeps the music off at night.
Nice, working condition. The hour arm is broken though can still tell time. See photos.
Made in West Germany in 1975.
